The Twizy Due to Make its Debut in Llandovery

A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog about ‘Tracy’ the Twizy Eco Car and a trip around Brecon. From August 5th, the Eco Car is coming to Llandovery. The state of the art electric car will be available to hire by the day and will be based at The Level Crossing for two weeks.

The Level Crossing is a community owned bunkhouse, bistro, and bar located next to Llandovery railway station. The new venture is aimed at walkers and cyclists for who there is secure storage and washing facilities for mountain bikes. It is based on the doorstep of the Western Brecon Beacons and the Cambrian Mountains; there is something for everyone to enjoy here- Mountains, lakes, castles, gardens and market towns.

This innovative little car provides a ‘green’ springboard for exploring the beautiful and stunning area, including the Black Mountain and could benefit tourism in Carmarthenshire greatly, now and in the future as more and more people are becoming conscience over the environmental impact of their holiday choices. More tourists are beginning to embrace sustainable holidays.

Brecon in a Twizy

A new green initiative has been launched in the Brecon Beacons. The Eco Travel Network http://www.ecotravelnetwork.co.uk  was established by local researchers and business owners to offer a pool of electric vehicles for visitors who want to explore the region while keeping their carbon footprint low. These Renault Twizys carry two people and run on batteries that can be topped up at a number of local charging points.

Really delighted that Rough Guides wanted to cover our area on their website as more people are becoming conscience over the environmental impact of their holiday choices and more  tourists embrace sustainable holidays and staycations.

Rachel picked up ‘Tracy’ the Twizy from Westview Guesthouse near Hay-On-Wye. Driven at 30mph, Tracy can do 45 miles in winter and over 50 in the summer. Tracy has no windows and is perfect for the current weather.

Rachel drove the Twizy to the Brecon Cathedral, Llandovery, Myddfai Community Hall and Visitor Centre, Dolaucothi Gold Mines, Penderyn Distillery and The Felin Fach Griffin, re-charging Tracy at each location, ready to move onto the next.

Mae menter gwyrdd newydd wedi cael ei lansio ym Mannau Brycheiniog. Mae'r Rhwydwaith Teithio Eco a Sefydlwyd gan ymchwilwyr lleol a pherchnogion busnes i gynnig cronfa o gerbydau trydan ar gyfer ymwelwyr sydd eisiau archwilio y rhanbarth tra'n cadw eu hôl troed carbon yn isel. Mae'r Renault Twizy’s yn cario dau o fobol ac yn rhedeg ar fatris y gellir eu pennau i fyny mewn nifer o fannau codi tâl lleol.

Mae mwy o bobl yn dod yn gydwybod am effaith amgylcheddol eu dewisiadau gwyliau ac wrth i fwy o dwristiaid cynnwys gwyliau a staycations cynaliadwy, mentrau gwyrdd yn neidio i fyny ar draws y Bannau Brycheiniog.

Cododd Rachel ei cerbyd 'Tracy' y Twizy o WESTVIEW Guesthouse ger Gelli Gandryll. Os Gyrru’r ar 30mya, gall Tracy wneud 45 milltir yn y gaeaf a dros 50 yn yr haf. Does dim ffenestri gan Tracy syn gwneud hi yn berffaith ar gyfer y tywydd braf ar hyn o bryd.

Gyrrodd Rachel y Twizy i’r Eglwys Gadeiriol yn Aberhonddu, ac ymlaen i Llanymddyfri, Neuadd Gymunedol a Chanolfan Ymwelwyr Myddfai, Mwyngloddiau Aur Doloucothi, Distyllfa Penderyn a Felin Fach Griffin, cafodd Tracy ail-godi tâl ym mhob lleoliad, yn barod i symud ymlaen i'r nesaf.

I gael rhagor o wybodaeth am wyliau a staycations cynaliadwy, cysylltwch â: marketing@carmarthenshire.gov.uk
