Wakeboarding at Llanelli’s North Dock

Plans have been given the go ahead for a wakeboarding facility at Llanelli’s North Dock in Carmarthenshire.

Wakeboarding is a surface water sport which involves riding a wakeboard over the surface of a body of water. It was developed from a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing techniques.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s planning committee has approved plans to install two 7m – high removable towers, ground anchors and cabling on land at North Dock for the sport.

This will be a new and exciting activity for residents and visitors. Matthew Smith of Go Wake said he hopes to have the Llanelli site ready for next year as permission has come too late to capitalise on this summer’s heatwave.
