Bookings galore from secret Carmarthenshire business
The County Council invests tourism budget in public relations in order to gain the County coverage in England and works with many businesses to do this. Very often the publicity can bring instant trade and we received this thank you message two weeks ago from a very happy "partner" who has benefited greatly in the last two months from coverage we gained for them in two of the major UK newspapers. (they have asked not to be named)
Thank you so much for the coverage in The Guardian and Sunday Times. We have taken a number of bookings for weekends already and a couple of weeks in the summer and I know the weekend papers tend to get read throughout the week so I am hopeful of a few more in the short term! The hits on our website increased 4 times on our average weekend rate so it was a great success. Thank you again for your hard work and for supporting us.
If you have any new products or ideas, please email Sarah and Rhys at the County Council via marketing@carmarthenshire.gov.uk. If you want an off the wall second opinion or help in getting five workable PR ideas together for your business, please email our English-thinking team member Huw Parsons to organise a face to face brainstorm at the same address.

New Bursary offers a taste of Europe
Innovative new food tourism project – Taste Local – led by Carmarthenshire Local Action Group and delivered by the South West Wales Tourism Partnership, is offering a Learning Journey Bursary to eligible* South West Wales food producers, retailers and hospitality providers.
The bursary will provide the opportunity to visit partner areas in Italy, Denmark, Spain and Greece to share best practise in relation to their sector. This may provide solutions to industry challenges, and enable those taking part to grow, access new markets and achieve sustainability.
The project is being funded through the Co-operation Fund under Axis 4 of the Rural Development Plan (RDP) for Wales 2007-2013, which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
Whether you are a food producer wanting to learn from one of our partner regions in an area such as production, a hospitality business wanting to learn more about marketing and serving local produce or a community group looking to develop a food trail or produce market, the bursary scheme is a great opportunity for you to do so.
Applications are being welcomed now, but availability is limited. To ensure your business can take advantage of this opportunity, please contact Lowri Edwards on:
