There are several walking trails around Laugharne which combine its literary history with the beautiful coastal surroundings, including the ‘Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk’ inspired by his 1944 poem 'Poem in October'. Tir-y-Lan, near Llandeilo
Set in 35 acres of their own slice of the Brecon Beacon’s National Park, these two holiday properties are just 15 minutes from the M4 and two miles from the spectacular hilltop Carreg Cennen Castle. Enjoying fantastic views in a quiet secluded countryside location, these are barn conversions that Kevin McCloud would approve of, with two living areas (good for multigenerational families), swanky kitchens, under floor heating and high speed internet. A stroll within the grounds of the barns is wonderful for wildlife – a timid herd of deer can often be seen at dusk- whilst there is also woodland, streams and open fields to enjoy. For the more intrepid, the owners can suggest a longer walk– an 8-mile ‘round the block’ hike in the Brecon Beacons with a fair few ups and downs.

Details: 2 night stays priced from £278 based on up to 8 sharing Tywi Barn (sleeps 8) on a self-catering basis. To book, visit www.tirylan.com or call 07815 871 430.
